Beragala, near Haputale — Sri Lankan Hill Country

Five acres of quiet, above the clouds.

A three-room boutique villa built where a tea estate once stood — now a private pool, home-grown meals, and views that change with the mist, an hour and a quarter from Ella.

"Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka." — a guest, Booking.com

From Tea Estate to Boutique Villa

A working estate, gently reimagined.

GlenMyu once grew tea, then sugar cane, before the land sat quiet for years. It has since been rebuilt into a small, informal villa on five acres — closer to staying with hosts who happen to have a very good cook than checking into a hotel.

Lunch and dinner are cooked to order from produce grown on the property, and the pace here is set by the weather rolling over the ridge rather than a front desk.

Before You Book

Questions guests ask most.

Is there air conditioning?

No — the hill country nights sit between 16–19°C, so duvets and an overhead fan cover it. No AC needed up here.

What happens during a power cut?

There's no diesel generator — by choice. Solar and battery lighting cover the evenings, Wi-Fi runs on its own battery backup, and the kitchen cooks on gas, electric and wood, so meals keep coming regardless.

Can I bring my pet?

Not this time — the estate is already home to seven resident dogs, and everyone (yours included) tends to have a calmer stay without the introductions.

Are there TVs in the rooms?

No televisions — just Wi-Fi. The whole point of the place is getting a bit closer to the view outside the window.

If I book all three rooms, do I get the whole property?

You'll have the middle floor and part of the lower floor to yourselves. Michael and Ruwanthi live upstairs, with their own separate entrance.

What about meals beyond breakfast?

Lunch and dinner are available, charged separately, cooked fresh daily and adjusted for dietary needs — see the food menu for samples. The kitchen closes at 10pm, with last orders at 8:30pm. Outside food isn't permitted, for quality and hygiene reasons.

What's the policy on music and parties?

No parties. Music is fine at a reasonable volume, wrapped up by 10am — the five acres still back onto neighbours.
